I could not believe he was actually taking the time getting to know me. What really got to me was that he was Slovakian and I am from Ukraine. I decided to plan a spontaneous trip to go see him and his games and take my best friend Kayla with me.
We were both so excited to finally meet one another that you could have sworn we were going to get married the second we met. Finally, arriving on March 5th we went to meet him at his hotel.
Everything inside was absolutely breath taking and we knew we were about to have a trip of our life. The ice and snow lying over the beautiful river was truly an awe.
You could even see all of Canada as if you could just reach out and grab the entire country with your hand. As we went downstairs to the lobby, there he was sitting on the couch dressed like a million dollars and smelled of expensive cologne.
When we got in his car, I was so cold that he let me put on a pair of his mittens that he actually wore at the Olympics. He took us out to a steakhouse and paid for all of our meals. After dinner, we proceeded to go to one of the hotels near called the Motor City where there was a ton of gambling. After the casino, we headed back to his hotel and ordered a load of room service.
He asked us what we all wanted and if we even wanted desert. As I laid down next to him, my friend could not get over all of the nice clothes he owned and was practically swimming in it. As much as we wanted to stay longer we had to let him get rest for his big game the next day.

He took me out to lunch at his hotel the next afternoon to one of the most beautiful restaurants I had ever imagined. When we walked back in we had to go our separate ways so he could get some sleep.
He leaned in and gave me a kiss at the lobby as I almost melted to the ground. That night we got ready for the game wearing my red heels and my red wings hat. Every stranger on the streets either glared at us or laughed because you could tell we did not fit in and were different. Picking up our tickets made me feel so special with my name on it and left by his number.
I got drunk off of Canadian beer for the first time and it was absolutely ridiculous for the cost of 10 dollars per 19 ounces. The list downstairs had my name on it allowing me to go to the back where fans and other team members hung out waiting for the wings to come out.
They even got to know me and remembered me the next night too! The crowd next to us would casually ask who we were with on the team without even asking if we knew someone on the team. Since joining Rhapsody, I have seen physical differences in my body composition; I sleep better; I have more energy; and have also seen my strength, gymnastics and endurance all improve.
Together we make what seems impossible, possible. As someone who moved from Ireland to Charleston all by myself, joining Rhapsody was one of my best decisions so far. Straight away, I was meeting friendly, kind people, who made you feel so welcome.
Together we sweat, we get stronger, we are competitive…and then we go and grab breakfast together.
No matter who you are, at Rhapsody everyone will cheer you on. I work out because I want to stay healthy and fit, and, to be honest, I thoroughly enjoy my time in the gym. I get to have a laugh, meet new people, and have fun, all whilst getting fitter. I believe being a self-motivated person is an important skill this helps when you are getting up at 5AM to workout when everyone else is lying in bed.
I have always been a hard-working, determined person, eager to test my limits, both inside and outside of the gym. I always strive to reach my goals and improve my personal bests.
At Rhapsody, I am given the chance to put all my effort into that challenge and be proud of what I can achieve. There are many skills I learn and develop in the gym that I can transfer to other day-to-day activities to make me a better person.

The same applies when e. I get a big project in work. I try to be logical as to how I break it down to be most efficient and finish to the best of my ability. Maybe more importantly, during my time at Rhapsody, I have also been able to improve on how I react when things do not go the way I expect e.

Focusing on weakness, gives me a chance to grow. One of the reasons I love CrossFit is that the program is designed to be universally scalable.

At Rhapsody, regardless of experience, everyone in the class will do the same program. As a part of this environment, I enjoy getting to cheer others on, and get encouragement and support in return.
It makes me genuinely happy and excited to see someone get their first pull up, fight to get up after getting stuck at the bottom of that heavy squat, or finish that WOD that 3 months ago they got time capped on.
You committed, you worked hard, you deserve that cheer and high five! On a side note, in my day job, I carry out research in identifying markers, and understanding the mechanisms behind diabetic complications.
I am very aware of the effects of chronic disease and the importance of preventing, or in fact reversing it.
