Indeed the word Havilah can be traced to the root chuwl which means circular, to twist or whirl, or writhe in pain and the root chowl which means sand. The identification of Havilah as a source for bdellium, a resin for incense making, and onyx further points to Iran and Pakistan.

By following the western bank of this course the traveler would eventually find themselves rounding the Arabian peninsula and encountering Africa wherein lies the expected land of Cush, ancient Ethiopia. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. Modern maps still show how the Tigris River follows the eastern flank of the land known as Assyria by the Greeks and Ashur by its inhabitants. The Euphrates was presumably so well known that it needed no appellation.
This leaves us with four rivers that are joined by canals forming a large x-shaped river network. Do the Rivers Lead us to Eden? So where does this place the garden? If we look for a river that flows out of the steppe and enters near the joint course of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers the eye cannot help but be drawn to the Diyala River in eastern Iraq.
The description of the garden frames it as being the center of a trade network. Very rich in Job Cush and Sheba, mentioned in Genesis Inhabitants in Jeremiah Ethiopia gives strength to Nineveh says Nahum 3: Yahweh is interested in history of Ethiopia and Egypt, Isaiah Ethiopia will stretch her hands to Yahweh in the Psalms Cush and Mizraim forms a political unit Isaiah Names show river stream system flow to others in-turn flow into another.
This pattern of rivers observed in nature is opposite of what Bible describes in Eden rivers.
Modern map regions in Genesis shows exactly where Garden of Eden was by present topography of lands of Middle East. God created the heavens and the earth in perfection and was rich in flora and faunas. On creation day six God planted a garden in east of Eden garden in Genesis 2: Excavations show historical archaeological findings today modern Turkey.
The cutrent headwaters of the Euphrates River originates in Turkey, as headwaters of Tigris. The location of at least two more rivers or old river beds as the other two missing. Some claim the Garden of Eden passed through present day Kuwait. The present day of headwaters of Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Turkey close to other in mountainous terrain.
The Garden of Eden
Logically, one would assume if two of the rivers started there, the other two must have done so, as well, if Turkey was location of Eden. Pison and Gihon rivers are not mentioned again in the Bible.
However, the Hiddekel River is: Assyrian Empire centered near Nineveh, extended into present-day Syria and Palestine. Location of other two rivers in Garden of Eden stretch from Turkey to Kuwait geographical region of Pison river. An old river course dry riverbed in desert detected by satellite imaging. Part of the ancient Pison, dry about 3, to 2, BC. Saudi Arabia marginally qualify for land of Havilah as fossil riverbed flows across mountains bordering the eastern side of present day Red Sea south Israel.
The source of the Nile is Jinja in Uganda where Dr David Livingstone originally found black Jews with menorah tattoos on back shoulder of males. Plus tattoo of the red sea crossing and Passover bread and cup of wine tattooed on the men.
A map of ancient history before colonial partitions of Africa shows the different names in Bible. And mountain range on western side of Red Sea tectonic spread zone part of Great Rift system runs from northward in Turkey, down through the Dead Sea, down through Red Sea and southward deep into African continent. The better fit for river flow down today is the Gulf of Aden south of present day Yemen southern tip of Arabia.
The Pison River, one of the four rivers flows from Garden of Eden corresponds with present-day headwater sources of Euphrates, Tigris in Turkey. The political boundaries of Ethiopia is similar in the Biblical times, so correct. These natural routes traced the Euphrates and Tigris rivers to present-day sources. This mystery 2 rivers presently originate from Turkey to north 2 fossil rivers flow south of Israel.
Geographical land of Eden points to flow from Turkey by Kuwait center near general region of present day Israel and Jordan. The Bible lends further credence to Israel within the location of Garden of Eden. Behold, Assyrian cedar in Lebanon with fair branches shadowing shroud of high stature top among thick boughs.Hiddekel, Euphrates, Pishon, and Gihon
So these waters made him great, the deep set him up on high and her rivers run roundabout her plants and sent out her little rivers unto all trees of field. The fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations. Cedar trees mentioned in Bible as references to Lebanon in Judges 9: From this we infer Garden source of rivers of Garden close to land of Lebanon.
So North and south extension splits into 2 separate of 4 rivers into the 4 separate heads. Present day Tigris, Euphrates are sources of headwaters in ancient times.
Kuwait River, proposed as the lost river Pison, does not seem to match common denominator of others as Great Rift branching fault systems. All factors considered in Bible text and geology show the paths indicated by lines on large map are the probably route these rivers flowed. The Southern path Yemen puts fourth river into the basin of the Great Rift system, flowing east from the Afar Triangle.
With both north and south forks splitting a second time intercepting the other fault zones. The course of rivers around and through the vicinity of Great Rift fault system may change or dry because of block faulting all along the Rift zone. Certainly Horst and Graben faulting along Rift could, and would change surface topography. Horsts, Grabens range size of block centimeters wide to tens of meters wide in a vertical movement to several thousand feet. Imaging of Dead Sea indicates the river bed of Jordan River once flowed across land surface now at the bottom of the Dead Sea.
Garden of Eden - Wikipedia
There was Horst and Graben faulting at the southern end of present Dead Sea abruptly terminated former flow of river southward. That stream was probably feeder channel to ancient Gihon River, running down the floor of the Red Sea into Ethiopia and through the Rift basin south from the Afar Triangle. Supporting evidence for this is fish species in African Rift valley river and lake systems are very similar to those found in Jordan River system.
The 4 Eden rivers match origin of the living history of Israel from garden of Eden in Canaan, to Egypt, Canaan land, migration in many directions globally as shown in these maps below. Jordan was one branch of these 4 huge river system, chain of lakes in East Africa represents the other; and together opened into the Indian Ocean. This map shows a great deal of block faulting in area of Lebanon just north of modern day Israel.
Satellite image of the entire area note from the topographical relief, had waters once flowing out of this area, so they would naturally flow northward Euphrates Fault system river basin. At the time of Garden of Eden the main headwaters of the Euphrates could have come from that direction. If the water flow at time continued northward along path of the Great Rift, it intersects the present-day Tigris river basin.
It has altitude of nautical miles meters. They are connected by Jordan River flowing south. Earth was divided by Rift mountainous land on both the Israeli and Jordanian sides once joined. The Bible says rivers flowed out of Eden so geographically accurate of what constitutes actual areas of Eden.
